Four Entertainment Group (4EG) is based out of Cincinnati and Chicago, founded and helmed by four partners that acquire, develop, and manage a broad range of exceptional Cincinnati and Chicago bar and restaurant establishments. But they were facing a big problem –– their business development outpaced their ability to strategize their technology and marketing efforts.

Since each 4EG venue is individually unique, they all had a different website, in different locations,  with separate logins, and different people managing them. This created major brand inconsistencies and content management bottlenecks from site to site. So we faced the challenge of creating distinctive sites for each location, yet still incorporating a consistent design representative of the 4EG brand. They also didn’t have the ability to keep up with their rate of growth or have an efficient way to manage each of their sites. So we knew that we needed to establish an efficient management and deployment process all while creating a solution that would address the time and cost required to build a new website with every new venue.

We came up with the solution of  creating a WordPress multisite network, set up with a central site for 4EG, called the “parent site”. Then we designed and built their venues’ sites called “child sites.” With a WordPress multisite, we are able to add any number of child sites.  This approach makes it possible to support and create new websites consistent to the current layouts as the company grows and opens new locations.

One of the major benefits to this site structure is that 75% of the content on the parent site is pulled from the child sites, eliminating the need to enter the same content in multiple locations. This functionality also allows 4EG to edit and update all sites with one login, rather than requiring separate login credentials for every site. Setting up a multisite network also ensures we adhere to brand consistency across all sites, and again, allows for quick deployment of new child sites when new venues open.

With a simplified content management system in place, the 4EG team now has a network of websites that they can manage with ease. It has also allowed them to continue to grow at their current pace without being held back by technology. We have deployed an additional six websites for them in the past two years, and have optimized the process so that we can populate and launch a new website for them in just one week.
